Cinchona Officinalis (China)

Cinchona (China) is essential in cases of debility and weakness from loss of vital fluids – whether from bleeding, excessive sweating, diarrhea, or prolonged nursing. The key characteristics are marked exhaustion with hypersensitivity to touch, draft, noise or light, worsening from the slightest touch or jar but better from hard pressure. The patient is weak yet irritable, with throbbing headaches and a tendency to hemorrhage. Notably, symptoms often come in periodic attacks and are worse every other day. The face may be pale or yellow, with dark circles under the eyes, and there is often great thirst but only for small sips at a time.
