Black Bean Turkey Chili Recipe
Chili season is in full swing! Warm up on a chilly day or use this recipe for your next Super Bowl party. With lean turkey and black beans, this recipe is packed with fiber and protein. Best of all, this one-pot black bean turkey chili recipe can be stovetop made or modified for use in a slow cooker.

Ingredients
- 2 cups dried black beans, soaked and cooked (or 4 cups cooked)
- 1/4 cup oil, divided
- 1 pound ground turkey
- onions, diced
- 1 large red pepper, diced
- 3 jalapenos (optional)
- cloves garlic, pressed
- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 2 cans diced tomatoes (approx. 28 oz. in total)
- 1 1/2 cups broth or water
- 2 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. dried chipotle (optional)
- 3 Tbsp. molasses
- Salt (to taste)
Instructions
- Heat 2 Tbsp. oil in a large pot over medium heat. Brown turkey until it is fully cooked. Pour cooked turkey with juices into a bowl and set aside.
- Heat the remaining oil in the same pot and sauté the onions, jalapenos, and red pepper.
- When they’re soft, add garlic, tomato paste, and chili powder. Stir to combine.
- Add tomatoes, turkey (with juices), beans, and broth into the pot.
- Bring mixture to a simmer then add oregano, molasses, and salt (to taste).
- Best served with nachos or cornbread and avocado slices.
